Hayovel Country

Now coming to a yishuv near you. This is how the patient xtian enemy breaks us down. Step by step. With ruthless and patient calculation. And as a result, the Shomron in Israel is "Hayovel" country today. Brought to you courtesy of so many religious Jews. Some terribly misguided to the point of blindness, others the product of corruption.
  • Who let them in?
  • Who works and aligns with them?
  • Which vintners and wineries benefit from this labor?
  • What can be done?
  • Which hasbara shills (Jewish and otherwise) defend these groups and the Jews who work with them?
  • Which political parties stain their hands with Hayovel associations, either direct or otherwise?
  • Which politicians support them?
If you are a Jew who gives a damn, share this post. Find out more at: https://stophayovel.blogspot.co.il/

The Demon Within (audio)

Reflections on the religious Jewish leaders, figures, and communities that are aiding the evangelical xtians in their missionary efforts in Israel. Evidently, the lure of economic and personal benefit gain was too much for some Jews to resist. And yet decent Jews cannot afford to remain silent on this critical issue. For too long, many Jews turned away from this troubling issue. Yet apathy and fear will bite us in the long run. The problems will only become more complex, more nuanced, more difficult to handle. We are at a critical juncture. On the one hand, more Jews are slowly becoming aware of the issue. Yet only in a general sense, and they aren't motivated to take more aggressive action. Furthermore, the Jewish enablers have resorted once again to slander and libel and gutter-tactics of lies and deception. We will eventually win. We have the Torah truth on our side. But at what cost?

Snakes: A Counter-Response

Adam Eliyahu Berkowitz of "Breaking Israel News" recently responded to my article “Snakes in The Vineyard” with an article of his own. While I appreciate his ability to address these contentious issues without resorting to defamation, Adam is wrong on this issue. Hayovel is indeed a missionary organization. My response is featured in The Jewish PressSnakes: A Counter-Response

Snakes In The Grass

My latest post on the insidious missionary organization Hayovel, who slither through the fields of the Shomron region thanks to the support of religious Jews. Today's focus is the unscrupulous Jewish vintners who sell out Am Yisrael for greed. It is a veritable horror story but it is true.

Be careful which Israeli wines you purchase. Any vintner who uses xtian labor should be boycotted as far as I'm concerned. We should all make an effort to support those Jews who resist the economic temptation of "free labor". "Snakes In The Vineyard" is now featured in The Jewish Press: http://www.jewishpress.com/indepth/columns/fuchs-focus/snakes-in-the-vineyard/2017/08/07/

Har Bracha or Summerisle? Hard To tell

Singing. Dancing. Paganism. A perverted admixture of the sacred and the profane, which invariably leads to the profanation of the sacred. Barbecues.

Pagan minds and primitive brains. Evil and corrupt people. Small, craven people. The kinds of Jews who would have followed baal because it seemed the frum thing to do at the time.

Har Bracha or Summerisle?

This is false messianism. And I'm specifically speaking about Jews. For more on this madness, check out: https://stophayovel.blogspot.co.il/

Dumisani Washington Exposed (audio post and slideshow)

It never ends. Physical enemies who wish to destroy us in the Islamic/Arab world, and the equally dangerous spiritual predators who want to see Jews embrace "that man". The former are more honest about their intentions. The latter ones throw money at us, smile with brotherly love, and plant their poison roots with the help of foolish/naive/corrupt Jews. And the few Jews who cry out in outrage are vilified and slandered.

If you defend missionaries, you are an enemy of the Jewish people, whether you are Jewish or gentile. Some people cannot get this through their thick craniums. Doing "good hasbara" (whatever that means) doesn't negate one's messianic/missionary activities.

History truly repeats itself. Nevertheless, we continue to pull these pagan temples down, one pillar at a time. Let the guilty scream until their heads burst.

Meir Weinstein, “JDL Canada”, and the Contemporary Mythos: Part I

If Meir Weinstein would have just stayed out of a fight he knows nothing about, I would have refrained from penning this piece. If he would have stuck to his little charade in Canada, selling the image of Jewish self-defense rather than implementing it, I would have left him alone. But as I’ve noted before, don’t poke the bull again and again. Don’t lie about good Jews. Don't shame other Jews on Facebook. So now I am forced to open the book.

Several weeks ago, I was forced to call out a certain Yisrael Medad for his outrageous behavior on social media. I wrote:

“Yisrael Medad has the gall to attack a good Jew who was once ensnared in the church, and who in a teshuva process, now dedicates his every free moment to protecting Jews from the missionary menace, based upon his knowledge of such groups. We know what the Torah says about one who would denigrate a Jew for past mistakes. But what of Medad's ongoing sin of being a stumbling block for the Jewish people? The same can be said for others like David "Haivri" Axelrod and the growing army of small Jews who help missionaries gain a foothold in Israel. What a shameful person. Cry for yourself, Yisrael. Cry for Am Yisrael.”

And now the same can be said for the head of the supposed “JDL Canada” (more like Bnai Brith Canada) for calling out the same individual. I’m not going to mince words. Shame on both men for their outrageous behavior. Let me not dance around the bush. They are speaking about my dear friend Moshe Schwartz, who dedicates his life to combatting the missionary threat in Israel. As anyone who knows Moshe Schwartz will attest on so many occasions he has given the shirt off his back to another Jew or opened his home indefinitely. So, this blood libel against a good Jew who has been open about his distant past where he was ensnared with the church, and fights today with every fiber of his being against the missionary menace is the definition of disgraceful. The sin of reminding a penitent of his past is egregious.

Moshe Schwartz is one of the administrators of “The Judean Hammer” Facebook page and he knows what he’s talking about on these critical matters. There is a reason I installed him in this role. His integrity, his teshuvah, and his knowledge. Larger anti-missionary organizations often use the expertise of baalei teshuva who fled the snare of church, and now use their expertise to save Jewish souls and alert the public. And to reiterate, Moshe is an open book on such issues and his teshuva process is apparent to anyone who knows what fuels him.

Back to Weinstein. JDL Canada is a joke and a disgrace to anyone who reveres Rabbi Kahane. Meir Weinstein knows little of Rabbi Kahane’s Torah, as exhibited by his support of the missionaries of CUFI, and his attacks on other Jews who fight the enemy. Yet he defends people like David “Haivri” Axelrod in Israel who associates and works with known missionaries and evangelical predators. He does this because JDL Canada is an unprincipled hasbara organization which has little to do with Jewish self-defense. That is precisely why they have such a good reputation in Canada and get along well with the Bnai Brith. When a JDL gets along with the Bnai Brith it speaks volumes about the former.

As far as self-defense, every Canadian I know who cares about Jewish self-defense attests to the joke of JDL Canada. Their patrols are a joke, and largely non-existent. No one I spoke with could remember any examples of them protecting Jews. At least Bnai Brith Canada will send a clean-up crew to erase the swastika from your door after 24 hours.

But it is Weinstein’s shameful treatment of a good Jew that is most telling. Carefully watch any exchange on FB and you will see that he cannot answer questions, he defends the wrong people, and attacks the few good men and women who fight the honest fight.

JDL Canada. Flag waving and Hatikvah. Barbeques and baseball. V’zehu. One Kahanist who knew Meir years ago in Israel noted that Weinstein was noted for one thing. He consistently fled from the police when the fire got hot. Kind of like this altercation where two chayas (it appears there were two who threw down, G-d bless them) jumped into the fray, but a certain someone stands there waving his flag. Bring it on Meir. You brought it upon yourself. Now watch another Canadian idiot jump in. Just like Pavlov's dog but with less intellect and inferior manners.

For those who doubt my reverence for authentic JDL ideals, check out this recent post:

"Hayovel", "Papa" Don Finto, and Jeremy Gimpel

An article from a few years back documenting a terrible event: The New Jews For Jesus

The only positive thing about this grotesque spectacle was that it proved once again that "Hayovel" is a missionary organization. In this article, replete with links to videos and other documentation,  you will note the following:
  • Joshua and Caleb Waller, and Luke Hilton of "Hayovel", express their support and honor of a coarse but honest enemy of Torah, the infamous missionary Don Finto. Their affection for this insidious man is palpable and genuine. No group that opposes missionizing would ever associate (not to mention honor!) with such an insidious person.
  • Don Finto heads to the stage to deliver a christian blessing while Jeremy Gimpel stands silently on the side. The audience rises in reverence for the man, at the behest of the Hayovel representatives. A tremendous desecration of Hashem's name.

Don Finto delivers a "blessing". Video courtesy of JewishIsrael.

So who is Don Finto? Check out this prayer rally in Houston:

Hayovel grows in strength and popularity every day thanks to people like Yehuda Glick, Yishai Fleischer, Ari Abramowitz, David "the Hebrew" Axelrod, Yisrael Medad, Avi and Aaron Lipkin, Yonatan Behar, Avi Hermon, and Rabbi Melamed of Har Bracha, which has become Hayovel's base and center of operation in Israel. By collaborating with missionaries they have opened the gate to the spiritual hyenas. And despite the arrogance of such people, whose sophistication on these issues rivals that of a house plant, and who convince themselves that the daati leumi Torah world is strong, they will have plenty to feed on.

We are a sick people.

"The Judean Hammer" Podcast- Kay Wilson Exposed (audio)

My perspective on the disturbing kashering of Israel advocate Kay Wilson in recent years, despite her documented messianic past, and her continued refusal to admit what she was involved in. My position is simple. If Ms. Wilson cannot be truthful about her troubling past, what should we make of her in the present? Don't be a slave to the weak-kneed hasbara machine. A Jewish spokesperson should be vetted before they purport to speak on behalf of Jews or Israel. Surviving a barbaric assault from murderous Arabs does not qualify one to be an advocate for Jewish causes. Think for yourself and consider the evidence.

Kay Wilson Exposed: Part II

*The author would like to thank his colleagues from "The Judean Hammer", Nathaniel Feingold and Moshe Schwartz for their comprehensive research which contributed greatly to this second article. Few people understand the issue better than they do, as well as the tremendous danger that the "hard targets" pose to the spiritual integrity of the Jewish people. Furthermore, even fewer are willing to address such provocative issues which render one pariah in mainstream circles.

“Kay Wilson was stabbed!!!!”

The refrain of neurotic, mainstream, Jewish hasbara (public relations) clowns whenever one questions Israeli activist Kay Wilson about her documented messianic past, prior to the attack on her life seven years ago by Arabs. Certainly, a powerful emotional argument, since the incident involved the murder of her missionary friend, Kristine Luken, and Wilson sustained her own brutal injuries with a machete. Her story is the stuff of nightmares. Arab barbarism personified.

The problem is that many people are attacked horribly, both good people and bad people. Tyrants have been torn apart by mobs, and the Turks would have eviscerated Vlad Tepes long ago, if they had gotten a hold of him properly. Very often the madmen of ISIS butcher other equally terrible people who find themselves in their cross-hairs. In the Muslim world, Sunnis and Shiites murder and maim one another all the time.

All incidents must be viewed through a prism. Stabbings are terrible and we are emotionally horrified when we consider how we may feel if something happened like that to us or our loved ones. But not all targets are equal. Sometimes bad people get assaulted. And if a missionary is assaulted, according to classical Torah law, we don’t pity them because a missionary is a spiritual predator of Jews. Even if barbaric Arabs caused the horror. So the authentic Jewish position would be not to mourn the murder of a missionary or the attack on one, despite the barbaric nature of the act. This is Judaism if we are being honest, since missionaries are enemies of the Jewish people. See what our classical Jewish thinkers had to say on such matters.

People are sometimes assaulted terribly. Good people and some of the worst people. Being stabbed doesn’t validate one’s worldview or ideology, or give a person an exemption for such beliefs. To be stabbed must be one of the most horrible, traumatic, experiences. None of us should know of it. I have friends who were stabbed. On several occasions years ago, I was ALMOST stabbed, during a street altercation with an anti-Semite. (How is your eye, buddy?) For that matter, I have been almost bashed in the skull Ala Abraham and Glen (a “The Walking Dead” reference) almost shot, and almost run over by a car. Would my views and opinions have more validity if such things occurred, were I too survive?

No. The truth is dependent on facts, not whether I survive violence or experience it. Facts are determined by weighing the evidence. People process things differently. Some people are honest. Many are less so. The question remains: was Kay Wilson a messianic. At the time of the incident, the media widely reported that she was. Screenshots attest to this. Messianic media and mainstream papers like JPost and Haaretz. They have never been sued for libel to my knowledge. Nor has Kay Wilson publicly stood up and demanded that they remove it.

Testimonies: Compiled by Nathaniel Feingold:
  • "Susan Wilson... joined the messianic Christian Mission to Jews (CMJ)" (Jewish Chronicle)
  • "Kay Susan Wilson... her friend a co-worker at a Christian ministry... both worked for CMJ UK, a Christian ministry..." (CNN)
  • "Wilson was a senior tour guide with Shoresh Study Tours of Israel... CMJ guides "are committed Christians"... Shoresh Tours, a CMJ company that organizes tours to Israel. Kaye Wilson, who is the senior tour guide for Shoresh..." (San Antonio Express News)
  • "Kay Wilson, a tour guide who worked part time for Shoresh Tours, a Messianic tour company" (For Zion's Sake Ministries)
  • Kay "Kishkush" Wilson (also identified as Kaye Wilson, Kay Susan Wilson, and Susan Wilson in some articles) is identified in these screenshots of articles by Haaretz and messianic sites Israel Today, Caspari Center Media Review, the Joshua Fund, Messianic Times, and others as:
  • "a Messianic Jewish tour guide" (Haaretz)
  • "a Messianic Jew" (Haaretz)
  • "a Messianic sister" (Israel Today magazine)
  • "an Israeli Messianic believer in Yeshua (Jesus)" (Israel Today)
  • "an Israeli Messianic Jewess born in the UK" (Israel Today)
  • "belongs to a Messianic Jewish congregation" (Caspari Center Media Review quoting Israel HaYom)
  • "an Israeli believer in Jesus" (The Joshua Fund)
  • "Messianic Jewish tour guide" (Messianic Times)
  • "a Jewish believer" (Carrubbers Christian Centre)
  • "a marvelous teacher with a great love for her adopted homeland and her fellow Jews. And of her Lord and savior." (Daniel Muth, who comments that his tour was guided by Kay in 2008)
At the time of the incident she was employed for years by Shoresh tours which is under the umbrella of Christ Church, an open missionary organization. Contrary to the false claims of Wilson's ignorant defenders, throughout the years, Shoresh Tours has consistently stated that all their tour guides are believers in Jesus. Of course they do, as an arm of Christ Church!

In a recent article for The Judean Hammer blog, I noted the following:

“If the notorious street missionary and apostate Jew, Jakob Damkani (yemach shmo vzichro) survived a murderous attack from knife wielding Arabs, would he have the same religious supporters defending him today? Would his crude aggressive style and overt missionizing earn him Jewish enemies or would he garner their sympathy if he survived? After all, how does one differentiate between acts of Arab terror? Is it the victim's demeanor? Style? Hobbies and interests? Perhaps one's accent and country of origin are factors when considering which victim is more charming or sympathetic? Does it help when one denies one's past, despite the evidence? Could Damkani theoretically become a spokesperson for "Stand With Us" or speak on behalf of Israel at the UN? Food for thought, for those rare individuals who think for themselves.”

A fair honest question, which deserves a candid answer. I do not expect an honest answer from Kay Wilson or her army of deluded defenders. So, what are we to do seven years later. Ignore it as the hasbara machine has, and allow a former messianic, and possibly current, to act as an advocate for Israel? What kind of madmen have we become? Before the advent of social media, such a person would never speak for mainstream Jews without a very public expression of admitting one’s past and a genuine teshuvah. The problem is that Wilson has never done this, and when the few Jews who care question her, we get attacked. In any event, she needs to be vetted, and if she comes out as a genuine penitent, no one would be more welcome in my home.

But the process must occur and it hasn’t. And even if she answers the most glaring problem, there are still questions. Why does Wilson retain a friendship with David Pillegi of the notorious missionary organization, Christ Church? Normal Jews would avoid such an odious person like the plague. Let the vetting begin. And to those who prefer the limp-wristed diplomatic approach with dishonest people, proceed as you will by yourself. Don’t expect us to goosestep in line. At “The Judean Hammer”, we do things differently.

We have not yet begun to fight.

Concluding Remarks-"Hasbara" Personified:

Until Jews start to advocate for Israel from a dignified Torah position, and stop elevating flawed Jews and gentiles who distort Judaism and Torah values, we will continue to regress as a nation. And contrary to popular thought, our standing will erode as well. One fights lies with unbridled truth, not by recruiting faux-Indians and faux-ideologies, or people with messianic pasts who lack the integrity to admit their mistakes. Let the hasbara queens yammer to themselves in their echo chambers. They can shop in the shuk and eat shwarma, as they are wont to do. "Zionist things" to do. Sensible Jews should avoid such unscrupulous tokens like a virus.
Unprincipled "hasbara" clown & GoFundMe hustler Ryan Mervin Bellerose with Kay Wilson. The bottom-feeding, racist,  Bellerose is also friends with notorious CUFI missionary Dumisani Washington, as well as Jewish enablers of  missionaries in Israel like David Haivri Axelrod, Yisrael Medad, and so many others. An admitted token by many of his own supporters, he nevertheless interferes in Jewish matters with his trademark arrogance and patented idiocy.  Fortunately, this keyboard warrior is largely recognized by sensible Jews as an arrogant man-child. But in many ways, he personifies the problem of contemporary hasbara.

Kay Wilson Exposed

*The author would like to thank his colleagues from "The Judean Hammer", Nathaniel Feingold and Moshe Schwartz for their comprehensive research which contributed greatly to this article. Few people understand the issue better than they do, as well as the tremendous danger that the "hard targets" pose to the spiritual integrity of the Jewish people.
No Jewish spokesperson should ever get a pass when messianic organizations THEMSELVES repeatedly identified her as being messianic in the past. A vicious assault by Arab terrorists, no matter how barbaric the circumstances, doesn't make this history go away. And yet today, Kay Wilson is a public spokeswoman for such hasbara groups like Stand With Us. She can speak at a Chabad House in England. She visits Jewish schools and synagogues. She writes for Arutz Sheva. She doesn't have to explain anything at all, nor does she feel inclined to answer any respectful inquiries about her past. And when she does, it is always evasive, she avoids responding to any specific points, and she plays the defensive card.
In the fight against missionaries, Wilson is a Teflon Donna. Despite her well-documented messianic past and her current friendships with overt missionaries from Christ Church, she is sanitized by Jews across the grassroots spectrum. To raise the issue is suicide for career minded activists, writers, pundits, etc. You will be castigated and called an insensitive monster. For some reason, surviving a vicious act of Arab terror (which took the life of her missionary friend and caused severe injuries to herself) gave her a get out of jail card. The problem is that the Torah has some harsh things to say about missionaries.
Has Ms. Wilson engaged in a teshuva process? Unlikely, since she continues to deny having any past involvement with such groups despite the OVERWHELMING evidence. The proper Jewish response to such a situation, despite it being the unpopular provocative position, is to state the obvious. Ms. Wilson needs to come clean or be called out.
Whether she likes it or not, Kay Wilson cannot play the victim card to avoid questions that should trouble any self-respecting Jew. Because from a Torah perspective, a missionary is a spiritual predator. And her defenders never answer questions but resort to the standard name-calling. With no intention to bully, harass, or insult her, logic demands that every Jew concerned with Jewish identity has a right to demand where a public figure stands on such matters.
FACT: Until this day, Kay Wilson has never acknowledged that at the time of the Arab attack on her and her murdered friend, various messianic sites referred to her as messianic. Until recently, this material was all over the web, but in recent years someone sanitized her online footprint.

Fortunately, the power of screenshots exceeds such ambitious efforts. Since most hasbara types are sheep, they ignore her troubling past and her refusal to clarify. The tragedy is that most Jews don't give a damn about issues that are outside their daled amot. The few who are bothered are often afraid of Wilson and the fear of lawsuits. What is the danger in asking reasonable questions?
If the weaklings at Stand with Us won't screen their representatives, then the obligation falls upon the Jewish public. The following screenshots tell a story which requires some clarification. Kay Wilson owes the Jewish people a response if she cares to identify and advocate as a public figure. And to those timid ones who give her a pass, yet rant and rave about other personalities, shame on you. Your integrity is wanting.

Here is a video people like the Hartuv's of Kiryat Arba, David "the Hebrew" Axelrod, Yisrael Medad and some of Kay's friends don't want you to see. And Kay Wilson of course. Find out the real mission of  Christ Church and Shoresh Tours. Kudos to JewishIsrael for their wonderful database which is a trove of documentation and information. Watch the video and ask the obvious questions. Note the following candid admission at minute 3:35: “All Shoresh staff members are committed disciples of Jesus.”

Those who claim to oppose missionaries while supporting Kay Wilson, have nothing to say on Jewish matters. Hasbara activist Yisrael Medad recently attacked a good Jew who was once ensnared in the church, and who in a genuine repentance process, dedicates his time today to protect Jews from missionaries, based upon his knowledge of such people. We know what the Torah says about one who denigrates/reminds such a Jew of their unfortunate past. But what of Medad's additional sin of being a stumbling block for the Jewish people? And the hypocrisy of his support of Wilson is astounding. Not once has Wilson admitted her documented messianic past, or even intimated that she undertook a teshuva process. Yet she gets a pass.

If the notorious street missionary and apostate Jew, Jakob Damkani (yemach shmo vzichro) survived a murderous attack from knife wielding Arabs, would he have the same religious supporters defending him today? Would his crude aggressive style and overt missionizing earn him Jewish enemies or would he garner their sympathy if he survived? After all, how does one differentiate between acts of Arab terror? Is it the victim's demeanor? Style? Hobbies and interests? Perhaps one's accent and country of origin are factors when considering which victim is more charming or sympathetic? Does it help when one denies one's past, despite the evidence? Could Damkani theoretically become a spokesperson for "Stand With Us" or speak on behalf of Israel at the UN? Food for thought, for those rare individuals who think for themselves.

Kay Wilson gets away with spiritual murder, and religious social media forums like Arutz Sheva should be ashamed of themselves for allowing a forum for an unrepentant messianic. As far as those who cite Yad La'Achim to defend Kay Wilson, let it be known that they have stated different things to different people. And "The Judean Hammer's" inside YL source reports a more sobering picture, which suggests that fear rather than facts prevents the hierarchy from going after her. At the end of the day, people like Haivri and Medad support people like Kay Wilson & groups like Hayovel.
If Kay Wilson did "teshuva", and rejected and fled from her messianic past, she needs to publicly declare so, or forever remain suspect. Her failure to do so is troubling, and it suggests that she has merely become wiser. Ms. Wilson may fool many Jews, but some Jews aren't morons. A genuine penitent would unequivocally state her rejection of her past sins. Until then, logical Jews have no choice but to assume that nothing has changed, except for the mask.

Unprincipled Hasbarites: Part I (slideshow)

A visual look at one of the more odious "hasbara" tokens on the scene today. Meet an unsavory man who "GoFundsMe" his life under the pretext of a supposed upcoming treatise on "indigenous rights", and has the gall to lecture Jews (he isn't even Jewish) on Torah, Judaism, and identity. A man who threw his former patron and friend under the bus because she dared retain a friendship with someone he disagreed with. A man who has no principles, panders to every side, and even associates himself with missionaries like the notorious Dumisani Washington. I am not calling him a missionary. But he is certainly friends with missionaries and those Jews who enable them. Meet Bnai Brith's online activist, Ryan Mervin Bellerose.

Oh, lest I forget. He's a self-hating bigot who hates and denigrates white people, and rails against "Jews acting white". The irony is that most of his support comes from Ashkenazi, "white", Jews who parrot his nonsense. Bored people with too much time on their hands. Furthermore, he also resents Jews of color, because they have something he lacks. Dark skin. Meet the race obsessed Ryan Bellerose.

The Kay Wilson Conundrum (audio podcast)

Reflections on Kay Wilson's messianic past, her refusal to admit her documented missionary associations, and what this refusal might say about her current beliefs and attitude. The most troublesome aspect of this whole mess is that mainstream "hasbara" organisations gave Wilson an entry pass into the world of Israeli advocacy without ever properly addressing these troubling issues with her, nor has Wilson given any indication that she engaged in proper Torah repentance. On the contrary. She continues to deny the allegations. and yet I have never heard of her suing any of these messianic organizations for tarring her name in print. The Jewish people have a right to know the truth.

"Confrontation" Revisited: Rav Soloveitchik's Classic Treatise

In these trying times when ignorant, unlearned, and unprincipled Jewish "leaders" align with evangelical missionaries for their purported support of Israel, it behooves decent Jews to revisit Rav Soloveitchik's classic works on interfaith dialogue. What we are saying today reflects the vacuum of Jewish leadership of our times. Not only are those engaged in these dangerous relationships violating the most basic aspects of the Rav's position, but most of them are frighteningly ignorant (and largely disinterested) of the issues involved. Dark times indeed.

Friendly Foes: The Subtle Missionary

In our war with the Arabs, the Jewish Achilles heel is personified by the neurotic need for gentile friends, and the desire to create such friends where there are none. In a world where too many Jews ignore the timeless truism, “Esau hates Jacob” we should ask ourselves the following: Who are our true gentile friends? Perhaps a better question would be: can Jews truly have friends whose views are contrary to Torah and the ideal values of a Jewish Israel? All too often, Jew label others as friends, even when these same groups have ulterior motives. Here are a few of my thoughts on such friendships and how to discern the validity of a friendship.

#1: True friends don’t have agendas. That’s the litmus test to determine if one has a true friend. True friends gain and benefit from the friendship itself, and require nothing in return. The friendship isn’t a forum for their own causes and agendas, or a platform to define their vision for Israel on our behalf. Nor is it a vehicle to profit and fund-raise for themselves. If a supposed friend is creating a false association to perpetuate an agenda, he may not be a friend. Not every person has the most nefarious motives. Oftentimes self-interest alone defines the supposed friend. An important note. A true friend has no interest in molding you, patronizing you, or defining you.

#2: Friends don’t have ulterior motives. Certainly not theological ones. The Jew has few if any real gentile friends in the world. I say few because there are gentiles who support Israel without dark motives. Yet the evangelical is not one of them, despite the millions of dollars pouring into Israel, and the sea of Christian pilgrims happy to take a dip in the Yardenit. The definition of evangelism precludes this possibility. One who desires to see Jews embrace Jesus can never be a friend. The Jew in Israel thinks he has a friend in the evangelical. The evangelical would not give a shekel (or a half shekel!) to Israel if his shekel didn’t earn him entrance. The millions thrown at Israel come with a heavy price. A foothold in the land. Without the latter, they would abandon Israel for other targets. If Israel’s missionary laws had any teeth, the evangelicals would love us from afar.

#3: True friends don’t associate with missionaries. Friends don’t align with those who openly declare their intent to convert Jews. And friends don’t ignore a telling honest website because of a smiling face, and the pastor’s ability to discuss the NBA, or a shared appreciation for American conservative values. The first and second degrees of separation are telling enough. “Woe to the wicked, woe to his neighbor.” Associations define us. If your parve evangelical friend has ties to missionaries, it means you didn’t heed Rule #2.

This should be obvious to any self-respecting person, but the lure of cash and benefits is enticing for many Jews. True friends aren’t interested in land deals or real estate in Israel. True friends don’t desire Israeli citizenship or long-term visas. Certainly, they have no interest in building missionary centers in Jerusalem. Those Jews who think evangelicals are our friends betray their ignorance of what it means to be evangelical.

The most dangerous missionaries in Israel today are not the coarse street missionaries (dangerous as they are) whose aggressive tactics are apparent. The clever ones are far more dangerous because they have a foothold and respectability. They are in our communities. They are even in our vineyards praising “The Father.” Torah Jews need to open their eyes. Stop fixating solely on the lightning rod of “Jews for Jesus.” The subtle ones are more dangerous.
We have enough problems in Israel with a skewed law of return, and the complicated problem of proper conversions. Our missionary laws are toothless, and yet they are the only tools to stop the predators. The spiritual dangers facing Am Yisrael threaten our spiritual integrity, and ultimately our physical survival as a Divine consequence, as surely as the Arab Amalekites who want to slaughter us.

The evangelicals have gotten Rabbis to declare that their presence is a sign of prophetic fulfillment. Social Media is inundated with more than a few Jews defending “Christian Zionists” and accusing those of us who oppose them as hateful, liars. The evangelical has learned that he can get away with murder if he tempers his word and his exuberance, and is quick to remove the occasional problematic video that an overzealous pilgrim posted. If he learns to constantly change the lingo for more parve semantics, he can go very far. Don’t say Jesus. Say “the Father”. Don’t talk about the new covenant. Say “Restoration".

The evidence is all around us in Israel, in every park with a CUFI plaque, and every interfaith-conference and prayer service comprised of Christian and Jew. Today, there are evangelicals living in Israel in a prominent Torah community, all with the collusion of religious Jews & rabbis. The few Jews who opposed them were cast out of the community. The hope of 2000 years? This is a veritable nightmare.

And the repercussions of these harmful unions are not monolithic. Those of us who are privy to the problem recognize that the infection will spread in unforeseeable ways. The day will come when Israel gives hundreds and perhaps thousands of evangelicals’ honorary citizenship as righteous gentiles. Jews will shake their heads and kvetch when the issue becomes a problem. They will say “you cannot do anything today; they should have done something then”. Today is tomorrow’s “then”.

There is still time to rectify the mistakes. However, we need to get aggressive in exposing this multifaceted threat. As long as Likud leadership cozies up to evangelical money, then we have no recourse via the government. And as long as kipah wearing Jews shill for these predators, and Rabbis are blinded by a modern form of false messianism, things will only get worse.

The Heartland of Israel is riddled with missionaries who want Israel to retain every inch of our liberated land for a theological agenda. Jews who turns to Esau to fight Ishmael, has simply exchanged the armed crusader for the olive branch of evangelism. This is no victory.

I’ve heard more than a few of these Jewish enablers denying the danger of these groups, and assuring the public that neither they nor these groups have any association with missionaries. A proper search of the web reveals that these same individuals have on many occasion been caught on camera with overt missionaries. And their “parve” friends aren’t shy either when it comes to associating with the crudest missionaries. These self-appointed Jewish leaders recognize no boundaries. In truth, they are a byproduct of the collective rabbinic silence and reticence to discuss what they often bemoan in private.

In truth, the Jew has few genuine friends who come in the name of religion. The Bnai Noach represent the lone gentile community that can genuinely call himself a friend, since they desire the sanctification of Hashem’s name in the framework of the Torah. Of course, gentiles identified as Bnai Noach are hard to find, small in number, and they aren’t as well financed.

Choosing the hand of Esau to defeat the sword of Ishmael is suicide. The scourge of missionizing both classical and clever, and Heaven forbid the eventual likelihood of Jewish apostasy, idolatrous admixtures, deceptive conversions, and even Christian Jewish unions resulting from such poison alliances, will ensure Divine punishment. In the war with Amalek, we don’t arm ourselves with idolatry.

If we ignore the problem, and Jews today are ignoring the problem, our children and grandchildren will pay the price. And it will be a heavy price for the Jewish people. If we learn anything from the zealous Maccabees, it is that we Jews never traded Jewish blood for the Jewish soul. We fight for the latter with our dying breathe.
